Planning a bathroom renovation? Start with the plumbing

Why early plumbing decisions save time and money once the tiles go down.

When you're planning a new bathroom, it's tempting to start with tiles, tapware and vanities. But the decisions that matter most happen behind the walls, and they're much cheaper to get right before the tiles go down.

Decide on the layout early

Moving a toilet, shower or vanity means moving waste pipes and water lines. It's very achievable, but it needs to be planned before the walls are lined and the floor is waterproofed.

Check your water pressure and hot water

A rainfall shower head or a deep bath can expose weak water pressure or a hot water system that's too small. We'll check both and recommend any upgrades before you commit.

Think about drainage and falls

Floor wastes and shower falls need to be set correctly so water drains away rather than pooling. This is especially important for walk-in and frameless showers.

Plan for the fixtures you want

Wall-hung toilets, in-wall cisterns and wall-mounted taps all need the right framing and rough-in. Choose them early so we can position everything precisely.

Get a fixed price up front

We'll walk through the plans with you, give you a fixed, flat-rate price before we start and work around your other trades. Every job is backed by our 100% workmanship guarantee.
